From Roman ambition to vampire rule
Brencis was born into a noble Roman family that owned vast agricultural estates. He entered the Senate, rose through officialdom, and aimed for the consulship before being turned into a vampire interrupted that human path.
The official character bulletin frames him as someone born to rule and still driven by unfulfilled ambition. Centuries later, that desire is expressed through control of Vale Sangora rather than a Roman office.
The vrakhiri takeover
In 1347, plague and conflict weaken the valley while the former human lord Skender Dragosti disappears. Brencis emerges with ancient lieutenants and places the vrakhiri openly above human society.
His rule is not isolated to a castle. Senior vampires divide the land into regions, blood-bound servants enforce their power, and ordinary people live beneath promises of safety and the threat of supernatural punishment.
Connection to Coen
Brencis stands between Coen and his captured family, but the game’s narrative sandbox avoids reducing the journey to one linear quest chain. Coen can weaken the ruler’s network, build alliances, investigate the valley, or push toward the central goal with different levels of preparation.
Opposing Brencis and his organization can increase Coen’s Infamy. The conflict therefore changes both the story route and how visible Coen becomes to the court and people of Vale Sangora.
